2024 ACJV update # 13

Hi everyone,

Sara and I had a really refreshing break. This update includes property and finance, families ministries, Christmas, and a diocesan focus on evangelism in 2025.

1) Property & Finances

The management team has been exploring wise use of our resources. We met with representatives of the Nelson Diocese and the Alpine Presbytery last week. We are continuing to evaluate options, including building houses on the old St. Andrews site in Seddon. The Diocese have kindly offered to prepare a feasibility study so that we have good information. Please contact the management team if you have any questions or thoughts.

2) Children, youth and families.

Part of our 2024 and 2025 mission statement is developing pathways to faith. We want to continue to develop pathways for children and families in our congregations. Two particular focus areas the management team is considering are under 5's and middle school young people.

Families: please chat with management team members and Sara or me about what you would like to see in the future.

3) Christmas dates

Christmas play: Sunday December 15th, 9 am. (Practice on Saturday). Please contact Sara if you want to help, or have children or grandchildren or friends who would like to be involved.

Parish carol service: (Christmas Eve) Tuesday 24th. 

This year we are planning to hold our parish Christmas eve carol service at St. Peter's, Ward.

Christmas day service: Seddon.

4) 2025 -  Nelson Diocese season of evangelism

Bishop Steve and many other Christian leaders are noticing a renewed curiosity about the Christian faith. So, the Diocese is encouraging us to give people opportunities to find out about Jesus and the Christian faith in 2025. Planning is underway to offer opportunities to explore faith in 2025 in our parish.
